I haven’t blogged anything here for a long time. But when I read the news yesterday I new there was a blog post coming:

“A German man who lost his way in the dark while wandering around on sea ice off the country’s northern coast was saved by a woman 500 kilometres away who spotted him on a webcam, police said.”

Proving that watching sunsets on webcams isn’t just a nice experience! Of course I was hoping the woman in question was using Eternal Sunset to watch the sunset. I searched through a lot of reports in various newspapers, but none of them mentioned Eternal Sunset.

Still it’s been doing the site some good. A lot of people today seem to be searching for “sunset” and “webcam”, and guess where Google is sending them…

But a few weeks ago Johan posted a comment. A poem about Eternal Sunset. I think it shouldn’t be tucked away in the comments, so here it is:

Chasing the Sunset

Slowly the sun falls before my eyes
My memory races
My heart heavy
I feel empty

Chasing the sun before it goes
I lose my mind
But keep my hope

Chasing the sun before the moon
One more glimpse
Before evenings bloom

Chasing the sun with purple skies
One rosey kiss
One sweet goodbye

Chasing the sun the night becomes
I slow down
I succumb

Thanks Johan!

It looks like a great festival with music, perfomance, visual art, etc. The exhibition program boasts works by (amongst others) Ken Rinaldo and Christian Moeller; nice company :)

Eternal Sunset will be projected above the festival bar - so everyone can indulge in sunsets with a beer in their hands. Nice.

Oh, and of course it’s extra nice being part of STRP because I used to live in Eindhoven. Too bad I can’t make it over there…

The theme of the festival is Re:Use, encompassing a wide variety of artistic and intellectual practices including, but not limited to, sampling, collage, remixing, and appropriation. Whether it involves the recycling of equipment and changes in its function, the reprogramming of material, the sampling and mashing-up of sounds and images or the rethinking of ideas, the notion of re:use encapsulates the continuous growth and change in media and electronic arts.

I feel like I should declare my tight bonds with d/Lux: I worked there as the Program Manager for two years between 2004 and 2006 and am currently a board member. However, I was in no way involved with the selection of Eternal Sunset into this exhibition (honest truth).

Other than the web exhibition, d/Art/07 consists of a screening program (screened both in cinemas and online), a mobile phone art exhibition, a forum on business models for selling video art and art tours through Second Life. Cool!!!

Oh, d/Art/07 takes place between the 13th and 29th of July.
